I’m beginning to understand that buildings often have a life cycle. They’re built, and from that moment on they start to weather. Often they are not maintained properly, and then in 50 years, they’re so out of date, it’s more cost effective to start over again.
I’m starting to see this trend happening with schools. Apparently, they are suddenly all out of date, and new schools are needed. Everywhere.
The following are two examples of schools I’ve learned about recently that are nicely executed. They don’t have that old time feel of being shipped off the prison to roam around long dark hallways, made to sit still for unreasonably long periods of time, and sin of all sins, assigned homework.

I love how colorful they are. And open. Lots of glass and space to move around. It’s inviting and thought provoking. The use of materials for both of these examples are diverse and interesting.
I wish my public schools were as nice as these.
