If I didn’t decide to become an architect, there were two other options.
1. Lighting designer. (Something I still somewhat aspire for…)
2. A chef.
A chef was somewhat out of the question, because one of the best schools in the country for culinary arts is in my back yard (and I still haven’t eaten there!). I needed to leave for college.
That aside. I am still a passionate cook. You name it, I can make it. Back before the food network specialized in mindless reality tv, it was possible to learn something from it. So, I learned. But I also practiced, and improvised… And did my own thing. I still do that. I love cooking. Give me a list. I’ll make you anything you want. For real.
In San Francisco there is a store called Pot+Pantry that I just learned about. It’s a wonderful idea. Basically, a classy thrift store for kitchen supplies! Whaaaaaaat!? The only things I don’t really like about it are the rules. It’s more like they’re a pawn shop than a thrift store. It’s clear that they’re making a larger profit by reselling your former belongings than you got selling it to them. I say just sell it on ebay if that’s the case. But I still like the idea of the buying/trading/selling of kitchen supplies! Especially if you can get a good deal on them. I’m just skeptical on how good the deals really are.
That aside! The inside of their store looks like this:
Do you see that PEG BOARD FOR KITCHEN TOOLS?! DO YOU?!
I am putting one of those in my house. It’s settled. I’m going to dump out my infernal, impossible to organize drawer of utensils, and hang them on the wall. It’s such a fresh and artistic idea!
