Julia. Tree.
And What Happens, Happens

When I first saw this house, I was interested, but not really impressed. I bookmarked it anyway.

Then I went to go look at it again, in order to put it here, and I decided I liked it a lot more.

Check out that… Wood… Panel… Framed wood? I don’t even know what that material in these pictures is considered to be. But I like it. It’s inventive. Not to mention, there is a central… stream that goes down the house. It’s supposed to connect with the surrounding water.

Also love the opportunity for visual connections. There are a bunch of other images showing how this theme carries all throughout the house. I love the idea of private space that isn’t totally closed off either. This place does a decent job of that. It’s also light, and airy all throughout the house, with an emphasis on visual connections to the surrounding site.

What I don’t like about this house, is how long and narrow it is. While the eye is directed all over the place and in every direction… It’s just so. very. linear. I get it, but mix it up a little bit. It would be interesting for example, if the lounge area in the above picture projected through the right window/wall instead of stopping before it. Just, an option.
